I'll be presenting the Singing Plants and some photography at Nuit Blanche (Toronto) October 2 from 6:57 pm to sunrise. Jo SiMalaya Alcampo presents a new photography series based on her travels to the Philippines. Including images from the 2009 Manila Pride March, Alcampo's work re/connections is part of the Built for Us group exhibition held at 401 Richmond in Toronto from September 17 to October 17. In addition, for one night only, Singing Plants Reconstruct Memory will be exhibited as a part of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche on Saturday October 2 from 6:57 p.m. to sunrise. The projects in Outer and Inner Space introduce an emerging generation of artists whose hybrid development of the moving image cross boundaries of film and video, while simultaneously negotiating formations of identity through both the popular and the personal by way of the frameworks of subculture, nationalism, family and society.
